MUZAFFARABAD:

Azad Jammu and Kashmir Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider on Saturday described the decision of the accountability court against Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz as travesty of justice.

“Cases, trials and decisions of ‘unseen forces’ cannot keep the nation away from its leaders,” said AJK PM. He added that some political pigmies are celebrating the decision against Nawaz Sharif without realizing that it had weakened democracy in the country.

Haider said that the imprisonment sentence awarded to Nawaz Sharif was disservice to the nation and the country since it came at a time when the Kashmiris were observing the death anniversary of their legendary freedom fighter Burhan Muzaffar Wani.

“No power on earth can create gulf between people of Kashmir and Nawaz Sharif,” he said and added that it is highly shameful that Maryam Nawaz was awarded imprisonment by court for supporting her father politically.

“We had reservation from day one on the proceedings of the court as the charges framed against Nawaz Sharif and others were vague, unfounded and politically motivated,” Haider said.

The AJK PM said that the prosecution had failed miserably to prove corruption of a single penny against Nawaz Sharif. He added that the cases against Nawaz Sharif are nothing but a political vendetta.

Haider said that workers of the party cannot be coerced or intimidated through such coward tactics. He expressed his optimism that the people of Pakistan would revolt against the decision by casting their vote in favour of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on July 25.
