Irrigation: Benazir Canal scheduled for 2012

Arif Aziz said the canal would irrigate the land of 12 union councils in the district.

BAHAWALPUR: The Benazir Canal is to be constructed near Ahmadpur East and its suburbs to irrigate the land of the area.  This was disclosed by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) MNA Arif Aziz Sheikh.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Sheikh said the project would cost one billion rupees and the funds would be allocated in next year’s fiscal budget. Arif Aziz said the canal would irrigate the land of 12 union councils in the district.

“The government is working to develop and build more irrigation projects in different districts,” he said.
