Nine more violators arrested, five shops sealed in Quetta

Assistant commissioner says price list being monitored on a daily basis

QUETTA: Quetta Assistant Commissioner Sania Safi on Friday arrested nine shopkeepers and sealed five shops for selling substandard goods and violating the price control list in the holy month of Ramazan.
On special directives of Quetta Deputy Commissioner Capt (retd) Farrukh Atique, Safi, Assistant Commissioner Babrak Khan and special magistrate’s team started crackdown against profiteers in different areas, including Alamdar Road, Tughi Road, Brewery Road, Sariab Road, Satellite Town, Kirani Raod, Rani Bagh and other areas of the city, said press release.
At least nine shopkeepers were arrested for charging double from customers and Rs88,500 was fined. However, five shops were reported to be sealed for selling substandard goods in the area.

Eight more shopkeepers arrested for price violations

AC Safi said the government price control list is being monitored on a daily basis for providing relief to masses in the holy month of Ramazan by local administration.
She said, “Strict action will be taken against shopkeepers who do not follow the government’s price list in the area.
“Measures are being taken to ensure availability of edible goods at utility stores on a daily basis.”
AC Safi said construction work of buildings on Masjid Road, Tughi Road and at Liaqat Bazaar have been stopped for addressing problems of traffic jams in the city.
