Number of road accidents surge in Lahore

Four people lost their lives and 560 others were injured shifted to different hospitals in Punjab

LAHORE : At least 821 road traffic crashes (RTCs) were reported in Provincial Monitoring Cell of the Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) in all 36 districts of Punjab including Lahore with the highest number of accidents during the last 24 hours.



As many as four people lost their lives and 560 others were injured shifted to different hospitals of relevant districts and tehsils. However, some 372 victims, who sustained minor injuries, were discharged on the spot after provision of first aid by emergency medical teams.

According to the data, 419 drivers, nine underage drivers, 117 pedestrians and 400 passengers were among the victims of these road traffic crashes. The statistics show that 223 RTCs were reported in Lahore Control Room, which affected 225 people placing the provincial capital at top of the list followed by 71 in Faisalabad with 83 victims and Multan at third position with 67 RTCs and 75 victims.
