Six killed, seven injured in road accidents

Five passengers on their way to Faisalabad crashed into an electricity pole

FAISLABAD: Six people were killed, while seven others were injured, in separate traffic accidents in the district on Wednesday.

First, a car with five passengers on their way to Faisalabad crashed into an electricity pole after the driver lost control of the vehicle due to speeding. After crashing into the pole, the car caught fire, killing Ahsan and Zeeshan, and critically injuring Faisal Shahzad, Khurram Shahzad and Shah Khan.

Police shifted the deceased’s body to Civil Hospital for a post mortem, while Rescue 1122 shifted the injured to Jaranwala THQ hospital.

Speeding: Two killed in road accidents

In another incident, a passenger van on its way to Sahiwal overturned near the Bahadur Shah truck stop after the driver swerved in order to avoid hitting a speeding motorcyclist.

The incident killed two passengers, Asif and Riaz who were seated in the front of the bus while also seriously injuring four others. The injured were shifted to Sahiwal hospital where they are currently under treatment.

Further, 2-year-old Abdur Rehman was killed after he was hit by a car, while 35-year-old Tasneem was killed after she fell from the motorcycle her husband was driving. Rescue workers took her to a nearby hospital for treatment, however despite medical intervention she succumbed to her injuries.
