QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Qudus Bizenjo on Wednesday said that the provincial government and opposition are in contact to forge consensus on caretaker chief minister.

“We will finalize a unanimous name till June 3…the government will last till June 3 and we are optimistic that the provincial government and opposition will announce a unanimous name on June 3 or we will send the matter to the parliamentary committee and Election Commission,” Qudus Bizenjo told reporters after the assembly session.

He said, “We stand by our three names and opposition also showed their trust on our selection.”

Replying to a query regarding provincial government’s resolution seeking election delay, he said that Balochistan has a sprawling landscape. “We can’t bring our people back to the province for voting following summer,” he added.

“We have a national assembly constituency which is bigger than the K-P province. During this short period…voter turnout in Balochistan will be less and we want to allow more and more people to use their right to vote,” he said.

With regards to the no-confidence move against former chief minister Nawab Zehri, he said that they had to bring no-trust move due to flaw in provincial government affairs and zero performance. “During the last five months we have set a precedent that if someone seeks to provide relief to the masses, he can.”

He added that because of flawed policies our PSDP was stuck in court…majority of our officers spent their days in court hearings which barred us from giving 100 per cent performance. “During the last five years, our predecessors had put stress on buildings instead of providing education. We have allocated lavish amount for education and health in provincial annual budget and keenly working to fill shortage of teachers in government schools across the province,” he added.

Giving credit to his government for restoring law and order in Balochistan, he said, “Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa has shown his personal interest in restoring peace in Balochistan.”
