The raids are part of a crackdown being conducted on the orders of Quetta Deputy Commissioner Captain (retd) Farrukh Atique.
Quetta Assistant Commissioner Saniya Safi led the raids on Alamdar Road and Toghi Road, arresting eight shopkeepers involved in selling expired edibles and violating the government price control list.
The Quetta DC has directed his staff to strictly deal with shopkeepers violating the government’s notified price list during the holy month of Ramazan.
Crackdown launched against violators of price control list
Safi flanked by a team, comprising district administration officials and police officers, sealed two bakeries found using unhealthy material in their baked products. They also stopped construction work going on on two buildings as it had blocked the road.
Meanwhile, Quetta Assistant Commissioner Babrak Khan launched a crackdown in Kharotabad area, sealed seven shops and imposed a fine of Rs35,000.
The district administration, on the directions of Quetta DC, has intensified its action against violators of government price list and shopkeepers looting citizens by selling expired edibles during the holy month of Ramazan.
On Tuesday, various other teams of the district administration continued with the crackdown in various parts of the city and sealed a total of 12 shops and arrested 15 shopkeepers, while Rs55,000 fine was handed over to the treasury department.
