Three cops, 13 others injured in Dera Murad Jamali blast

At least five seriously injured people were referred to Larkana for better treatment

QUETTA: At least 16 people, including three police personnel, were injured in a powerful blast in the main Dera Murad Jamali bazaar on Monday evening. The bomb was planted in a motorcycle.

“The target of the blast was a police van parked at D-Chowk in the main city,” said Naseerabad Range DIG Nazeer Ahmed Kurd, adding that three police personnel along with civilians were injured.
Police said most of the injured were passersby.

Soon after the blast, DIG Kurd, SSP Mir Hassan Lehri and other officials rushed to the site and shifted the injured to the district hospital.

At least five seriously injured people were referred to Larkana for better treatment. The injured police officials were identified as ASI Ghulam Muhammad, driver Muhammad Hayat and Muhammad Omer. Many nearby shops and buildings were badly damaged due to the powerful blast.

“An improvised explosive device was planted in a motorcycle that detonated near the police van,” said the Dera Murad Jamali SSP.
Further investigation is under way.

After the incident, the security of district headquarters was beefed up and extra security personnel were deployed at various places.
