KARACHI:
Chief Minister (CM) Murad Ali Shah has said that he is trying to improve child health services, particularly in Tharparkar and other far flung areas.

This he said while holding a meeting with a delegation of the Child Foundation at CM House on Monday.

The CM said he has a plan to provide the best health services for children at every teaching hospital, district headquarter (DHQ) hospital, taluka headquarter (THQ) hospital and basic health units. This was the motive behind working in partnership with the Child Foundation.

The CM was informed that that the special space or wards given to the Child Foundation in different district hospitals and teaching hospitals will be launched soon. The child ward to be operated by the Child Foundation in Shaheed Benazirabad will open on May 18, the one in Jamshoro on June 18 and Sukkur's on December 18.

Shah said he was worried about Thar's children, who still need special attention. He directed the Child Foundation to send a professional team to Mithi's Civil Hospital to inspect the entire facility and report back to him within a week on the missing facilities at the hospital so they could be addressed as soon as possible.

"We have equipped the Civil hospital in Mithi with all the latest facilities and equipment, but there still are child mortality reports which are quite disturbing for me," he said.

"I want you to survey the facilities and the state of operation at Mithi hospital and give me a report to upgrade it in partnership with the Child Foundation," he said.

Shah said that the pharmacies of the teaching, DHQ and THQ hospitals needed to be improved. "I want to computerise the records of all the government hospitals and health facilities so that a proper check can be established," he said.

The CM said that medicines were properly given to patients at all government facilities in Sindh, but the overall health services were comparatively better at government hospitals where the private sector is working in partnership with the government.

Shah said that he has given special attention to the National Institute of Child Health and its services and equipment are being improved.
