QUETTA: As two children lost their lives to measles in Dalbandin on Saturday, an anti-measles vaccination campaign was conducted in the area on the orders of the Chagai district health officer (DHO).

DHO Dr Bashir Baloch said that Rahmullah Muhammad Hasni’s two sons, one five-year-old and the other three, were infected with measles a week ago, but their father opted for traditional methods to cure the disease, which resulted in their deaths.

“Another son of Rahmullah is also infected with measles and we urged him to go for professional doctors for the treatment of his child,” said the Chagai DHO.

Bashir Baloch said that in order to avert a possible outbreak of measles, anti-measles vaccination teams had been sent to the area on Saturday morning, which vaccinated hundreds of children in the vicinity.
