QUETTA: Commissioner Quetta Division Javed Anwar Shahwani has said that for a smooth flow of traffic in the city “a crackdown against illegal vehicles and rickshaws is necessary”.

During a briefing on the efficiency of traffic in the provincial capital on Wednesday, Shahwani said harsh steps were needed against double and awkward parking of vehicles on busy roads of the city. He said traffic issues could be reduced if the traffic police take proper measures.

He praised the role of traffic cops for a smooth flow of traffic on the roads, and said that arrangements had been made for parking of vehicles on Meezan Chowk. For further streamlining of traffic in the city, he said, traffic signals needed to be put in order.

“Heavy vehicles are also not allowed to enter in the city in the day time,” said the commissioner.

The submission of challans had also been made easy with the introduction of easy paisa and mobi cash, he said.

On the occasion, other police officials, including Senior Superintendent of Police Farooq Faiz Lehri, were also present.
