Farmers told of cotton cultivation’s importance

Farmers hail from Jhandeerwala Village join a special training session

MULTAN: The Central Cotton Research Institute (CCRI) organised an awareness and training session on Tuesday to guide farmers about cotton cultivation and its management.

Farmers, hailing from Jhandeerwala Village, also joined the special training session. CCRI Director Dr Zahid Mehmood told farmers about research studies carried out in the institute.

He also suggested optimum use of modern technology for higher quality and enhanced yield of cotton. Similarly, Plant Physiology and Chemistry Incharge Dr Fayyaz Ahmed highlighted the importance of soil and water analysis. He informed the farmers about proper and proportionate use of fertilisers.

Plant Breeding and Genetics Head Dr Muhammad Idrees highlighted different varieties of seeds and their characteristics. Agronomy Department Incharge Dr Naveed Afzal highlighted methods to prepare soil, samples for lab tests, eradication of weeds and balanced application of fertilisers.
