Driving licence issuance across Sindh halted due to connectivity issues

As part of an ongoing operation, the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) cut networks of wires on poles along II Chundrigar Road, resulting in fibre optic, TV, telephone and internet services being affected in the area.
According to KMC officials, the operation was carried out on the orders of the Supreme Court. Due to the fibre optic cables being affected, the issuance of driving licences from the driving licence branches in Karachi was suspended. Officials of the licence branch have said that 1,500 to 2,000 computerised driving licenses are issued to citizens every day at the Clifton branch alone. The driving licence officials have requested the public to avoid going to their branches, adding that people will be notified once the connection is restored.
Balochistan districts without internet for one year
On Sunday night, KMC officials conducted an operation along II Chundrigar Road and cut off the network of wires on electricity poles, thereby leading to fibre optic cables, TV cables, telephone lines and internet cables being affected. The KMC staff reportedly left the wires on the road, which resulted in problems for people travelling on II Chundrigar Road. Due to the cables strewn on the streets, multiple minor accidents have taken place and many private and government offices have been affected by the internet disconnection.
