Food security: KPFA slaps fine on eateries

PESHAWAR: The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Food Authority (KPFA) on Wednesday imposed Rs100,000 fine on Northwest General Hospital and Research Center’s canteen over unhygienic conditions and violating food safety standards.

Another team of the authority headed by Assistant Director Asad Ali discarded 100 litres of adulterated milk confiscated from dairy shops on Dalazak Road of Peshawar.

Similarly, assistant directors Saira Niaza and Aneela Mahboob raided two hotels opposite Hayatabad Medical Complex. They sealed one and imposed fine on another over unhygienic conditions.

Similarly, KPFA Abbottabad office carried out an operation against private schools and levied fine of Rs150,000 on PIPS School for violating Food Safety Act 2014. Abdul Wali Khan University Garden Campus canteen along with Balochi Sajji Mardan were fined Rs50,000.
