Resolution of public grievances govt's top priority: ombudsman

Khilji says it is the duty of officials to serve the people as they get salaries from public taxes

QUETTA: Balochistan Ombudsman Ali Abdul Ghani Khilji on Thursday said that provision of basic life facilities to citizens is the primary responsibility of the government as it is their first right.

“Due to increasing public issues, we are visiting all districts of the province, hearing people, receiving their complaints and trying to resolve their problems on immediate basis,” said Khilji while addressing complainants at an open court held at District Assembly Hall in Naseerabad district.

Naseerabad Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Yasir Khan Bazai, Naseerabad SSP Mir Hussain Lehri, ADC Badal Khan Dashti, Assistant Commissioner Ghulam Hussein Bhangar and officers of all other government departments were in attendance.

He said, “It is the duty of official employees to serve the people as their salaries are paid from public taxes. The purpose of holding open courts at district level is to solve people's problems at their doorstep.”

He advised the people to be aware of their rights and raise voice against social evils prevailing in the society as it would have negative impact on their future.

Talking to media in district jail, he said, “There is a need to bring special reforms in the fields of education and health on basis of which doctors, paramedics and teachers would be bound to ensure full attendance in district hospitals and schools.”

Addressing the complainants, Naseerabad Deputy Commissioner Bazai said, “We are government employees and resolving public issues in accordance with legal proceedings is our duty, but we need continuous public support and cooperation in this matter.”

He said that the masses could contact him and Naseerabad SSP directly in case of any emergency, “we are appointed to serve our people”.

The Balochistan ombudsman also visited district jail, government girls and boys schools and district civil hospital.
