Busy throughway: Second carriageway on Service Road West inaugurated

IMC is trying to upgrade road infrastructure all over the city, says Sheikh

ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Metropolitan Corporation (IMC) Mayor Sheikh Anser Aziz Friday inaugurated the newly constructed second carriageway, from the roundabout on Service Road (West) Sector G-10 to Khayaban-e-Iqbal in Sector F-10 on Friday.

Aziz said that development of new and upgrading the existing road infrastructure was among their top priorities, adding that cooperation was acting upon a comprehensive plan for advancement and enhancement of road infrastructure to cater the future traffic needs of the city.

He further said that the IMC is trying to upgrade road infrastructure all over the city. In this connection, several major roads of the city had been rehabilitated in addition to the re-carpeting of roads and streets within different sectors.

Aziz further said that some mega road development projects were also underway. In this connection work on the Islamabad, Signal Free Corridor Expressway is being done at a fast pace.

He further said after completing Koral and Sohan interchanges work on Khanna Pul Interchange was underway.

The mayor further said that the second carriageway from Roundabout of Service Road (West) G-10 to Khayaban-e-Iqbal, F-10 will be one of the most used roads of the city, therefore, surrounding of the roads must be beautified. He directed the Environment Wing to further beautify the surroundings of the road by carrying out landscaping and planting evergreen plants.

On this occasion, the mayor was briefed that PC-I cost of the project was Rs430.62 million but this was revised to Rs230.35 million.
