Haji Ameen Ansari, Zainab’s father, expressed his concerns over the case and its aftermath during a meeting with Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar, who is currently in Lahore to hear cases in the SC registry.
After the meet, Ansari submitted an application at the SC Lahore registry, stating that he was facing continuous harassment from Imran’s family.
“My family and I feel vulnerable,” read the application. “The authorities have not made any arrests or investigations pertaining to Imran’s facilitators.”
The eight-year-old victim’s father requested the top court for protection for himself and family and ensure that the facilitators were apprehended.
Speaking to the media after submission of the application, Ansar said he was satisfied with the anti-terrorism court’s (ATC) verdict sentencing capital punishment on four counts, life imprisonment and a heavy fine.

Zainab’s family has, on several occasions, demanded a public hanging for the convict. “We agree with the judge’s verdict, but we still demand that he [Imran Ali] should be hanged in public… he should be hanged at the same place where he took our child,” her mother had told media.
Her uncle had added that the convict must be hanged in front of the public ‘so the whole world could watch’. “Our demand is just and in accordance with the teachings of Islam… and if the demand of amending the Constitution for the public execution of the culprit is met then nobody would even think about committing such a sin.”
