QUETTA: Members of parliament from Home Minister Sarfraz Bugti group have announced to throw their weight behind Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Provincial General Secretary Naseebullah Bazai in the Senate elections.

The PML-N was divided into two groups after the ouster of Sanaullah Zehri as the provincial chief minister. One was Zehri group, while the other Bugti.

“We all are of Muslim league and believe in the federation. We just moved to bring in-house change in the province, but there isn’t any change among all PML-N members in Balochistan,” said the home minister while addressing a conference on Thursday.

Flanked by Bazai, Adviser to Chief Minister on Information Anwarul Haq Kakar, Minister for Education Tahir Mahmood Khan and Muhammad Khan Lehri, Bugti announced to support Bazai for Senate’s technocrat seat.

“We respect our party’s central leadership, but their decision was undemocratic that caused differences,” he said. “Despite having a majority in the assembly, Dr Abdul Malik Baloch of the National Party was sworn in as the chief minister.”

He said after that Zehri was appointed as the chief minister without developing a consensus with the parliamentary leaders and Senate tickets were distributed on favouritism.

On the occasion, PML-N members announced their full support for Bazai. Bazai said, “After being elected as senator on technocrat seat, I will definitely support our like-minded group.”
