Emergency training: Students, teachers taught how to handle terror attacks

In a bid to prepare students and teachers for dealing with natural disasters and even terror attacks, the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) conducted simulation drills at educational institutions in 14 districts of the province.

According to a spokesperson for PDMA, the first phase of the exercise will be carried out in hundreds of schools across the province until June this year. The second phase will be initiated after the summer vacations.
So far, the training has been conducted in three educational institutions of Peshawar including GHSS Shaheed Osama Zafar, GHS Jogiwara and Government College Peshawar.
Students and teachers are being trained in adopting safety standards during earthquakes, floods, storms, fire, evacuation and lockdown procedures and for administering basic first aid.Moreover, training is also being provided for dealing with situations arising out of terrorist attacks.
Promoting safety: Training course for instructors commences
PDMA Deputy Director Muhammad Shakeel explained that the initiative aims to create awareness and train school goers in handling emergency situations since most fatalities during natural disasters and emergency situations take place simply because of lack of information and proper training.
