Balochistan government declares Bostan Industrial Estate an economic zone

Decision taken during high-level meeting in order to boost investment in Balochistan under CPEC’s ambit

QUETTA: The Balochistan government has declared Bostan Industrial Estate an economic zone in a bid to attract investment under the ambit of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The decision was taken during a high-level meeting presided over by Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo at the CM Secretariat.

Home Minister Sarfraz Ahmed Bugti, Chief Secretary Aurangzeb Haq, Additional Chief Secretary Planning and Development, Nasibullah Bazai, Finance Secretary Qamar Masood, Quetta Commissioner Amjad Ali Khan, Director General Industry Department Saira Ata and others were in attendance.
The chief minister directed the officials concerned to ensure basic infrastructure and all other required facilities at the economic zone to facilitate investors and industrialists.
The meeting was informed that the Bostan Industrial Estate was established on 1,000 acres and very soon basic infrastructure would be completed on 200 acres, which includes levelling of land, construction of roads and supplying water and electricity. These facilities would be provided on the remaining 800 acres as soon as possible.

It was further decided that work would be soon completed on other proposed economic zones, which would be established under the mega CPEC project.
Bizenjo directed the department concerned to pay special attention on the preparation of skilled human resource and assured it that the provincial government would provide all required resources.
He stressed the need for devising a comprehensive policy for accommodating all the new offices that would be opened in Balochistan in the wake of the economic zone.

He also ordered to make arrangements for sending industrial material produced in local industries to national and international markets.
Bizenjo said, “Balochistan will benefit from industrial development when local raw martial will be utilised in industries and jobs will be available for the local people.”
He deplored the delay in implementation on projects in Balochistan under the CPEC.
He urged the authorities concerned to work hard for completing these development projects as soon as possible.
