Three killed as van plunges into Abbottabad ditch

Driver apparently lost control of the wheels, say eyewitnessses

ABBOTTABAD: At least three people died and nine others were injured when a van skidded off the road and plunged into a ravine on Tuesday afternoon.

As many as 20 people were travelling in an old van from Abbottabad to the Jaral village in Sherwan on Tuesday.

Eyewitnesses said that the driver apparently lost control of the wheels near Snado Gali village and the car skidded off the road and plunged into a deep ditch.

Eight die in van-truck collision

As a result, at least three people died on the spot while nine were injured.

Locals and rescue services rushed to the spot to pull survivors.

The injured are identified as Shahida Bibi, Sher Bahadur, Ejaz Ahmed, Hina, Azmat Bibi, Yasir, Liaqat, Naeem and Urfan
The injured and the dead were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Abbottabad. There, doctors described the condition of three as critical referred them forward to the Ayub Teaching Hospital.
