LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has demanded a military trial and public hanging of the culprits behind the killing of a minor girl in Kasur.

Addressing a press conference, PTI’s core committee member Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar issued a whitepaper on ‘the role of government and rising child molestation and sexual violence cases and deteriorating law and order situation’.

Sarwar said the Punjab government had failed to control crimes and handle the law and order situation.

“In Pakistan every day 4 to 5 children become victims of child molestation. Districts Kasur and Faisalabad are on top of this list where 3,100 mysterious deaths have been reported,” he added.

According to the whitepaper, 1,725 cases of rape and 195 cases of gang rape were reported in last one year with a daily average of five.

As many as 6,000 people were killed in violent incidents while 100 children and women were killed after sexual assaults. Besides, 41,000 incidents of theft and robbery were registered while 150,000 were reported.

The document says that 760,00 absconders, including 500 with headmoney and 109 terrorists, are committing crimes on a daily basis. “Some 74% of the cases have been reported in rural areas and 26% in urban areas. The ratio of the capture of criminals is less than 20%,” it said.

According to the whitepaper, the role of law enforcement agencies is limited to fake search operations. And 3,500 people committed suicide in Punjab while 209 were killed during robbery incidents.

It says the Punjab Police failed to trace two missing German citizens Jeewani Spato, and Bird. The police also failed to trace the body of Canada-settled Indian banker Rajwind Core Gul. Some 34,000 cases were registered in Punjab, while registration of one million cases was adjourned on technical basis.

“In Lahore, 335 cases of rape and 31 cases of gang rape were reported. Year 2017 witnessed terrifying hike in the cases of street crimes, and police incompetence was at its peak. Due to the incapability of the police, criminals find Punjab conducive for crimes,” it added.
