ISLAMABAD/LAHORE: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Wednesday took suo motu notice of the rape and murder of the eight-year old girl in Kasur.

The body of the minor child was found in a garbage dump days after she went missing from her home. Taking notice of the horrific incident, the CJP ordered the IG Punjab to submit a report within 24 hours.

The victim’s parents, who had gone to perform Umrah, reached Islamabad an hour after their daughter’s funeral.

Speaking to the media, Zainab’s father said, “Security is only provided to the leaders in Pakistan… and we [the public] are just like insects.” He said police did nothing when they were informed about the child’s abduction.

Recalling her daughter, the father stated, “Zainab was a loving child who took keen interest in religion. She had learned the five Islamic Kalemas by heart.”

Earlier, Chief Justice Lahore High Court Syed Mansoor Ali Shah also took notice of Zainab’s killing. The chief justice sought a detailed report of the incident from the district and sessions judge Kasur.

Sadar police station registered an FIR on the complaint of the victim's uncle, Muhammad Adnan.
