After Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has hired the services of Muhammad Asif aka DJ Butt for a grand jalsa at Islamabad's Parade Ground to mark its 50th foundation day.

Butt, known for dominating the music scene at the PTI sit-in in Islamabad in 2014, said that the party treated him like a ‘football’.

Speaking to reporters in Islamabad in July 2015, Butt lamented over the party’s refusal to pay him fully for his services. “Ever since the sit-in ended, I have called the head office a number of times and been ignored every time. I then emailed Imran Khan and he said he will help me out,” Butt said.

Muhammad Asif also alleged that PTI refused to pay his due funds, and claimed the party owes him Rs80 million. “My total payment for playing music at the PTI sit-in was Rs140 million but I have only been paid Rs60 million so far,” DJ Butt said, while speaking to Express News.

PPP leaders promised to stage an impressive show of power on Tuesday as foundation day is being held in the capital for the first time.

DJ Butt has installed the loudspeakers, lighting, generators, shipping containers for stage, and supplied thousand of chairs for the participants. Video coverage and SMD screens have also been installed by DJ Butt.

Political pundits say the event will also be a measurement of the party’s popularity and its fortunes in the upcoming elections in central and northern Punjab. Workers from across the country are attending the jalsa, which will be Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s first ever public event in Islamabad.

PPP Islamabad leader Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar said arrangements for 50,000 people have been made in the Parade Ground. “We will fill the Parade Ground to capacity. It would be a bigger crowd than any other jalsa at the venue,” he said.

The event is to start in the afternoon and end around 7pm. The party’s leadership from across Pakistan will be attending the event and a separate enclosure has been set up for women.

Speaking on the occasion, PPP Punjab President Qamar Zaman Kaira took potshots at PTI chief Imran Khan saying the Pakistan envisioned by Khan was not acceptable to the masses. “People want a democratic and enlightened Pakistan which is envisaged by the People’s Party,” Kaira said.
