Faisalabad women chamber president discusses plans to promote gender equity

FAISALABAD:
The government is taking steps to motivate and encourage female entrepreneurs to contribute in national development while the United Nations and many other countries are also ready to assist Pakistan in achieving gender equity, said Faisalabad Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FWCCI) President Rubina Amjad.

Addressing a meeting of the members, she said that the Australian high commissioner and French ambassador are in contact to extend financial and technical help for women empowerment, with a special focus on Faisalabad.

Women chamber aims to encourage entrepreneurs

In this regard, various delegations are expected to visit in the next few months, she informed. Amjad revealed that she will visit China to attend the inter Pakistan-China Conference in which she will represent the women entrepreneurs of Faisalabad.

The official was of the view that the chamber has almost finalised its road map, adding that a MoU has also been signed with the Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management. Under the agreement, both institutes will collaborate to launch programmes to enhance skills of women entrepreneurs.


TEDx to focus on women empowerment, innovation

Addressing the welcoming meeting for the founding members of the chamber, Amjad said that they have dual responsibilities of focusing on promotions of their own businesses in addition to sparing time to help out young educated women aspiring to enter the field of business.

She said that the international community has a general perception about Pakistan that it is a male-dominated society. “We have to change this perception by providing maximum opportunities to women.”
