PESHAWAR: Officials at the Hayatabad Medical Complex are rummaging through the records of all health personnel working there after they caught a man practising medicine at the facility without having the required documents.

The Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) administration has subsequently ordered a scrutiny of health staffers.

According to HMC Medical Director Dr Shahzad Akbar, a senior doctor complained to the administration after the trainee medical officer Qudrat Ullah misbehaved with doctors at the facility.

Later, they discovered that he had been allowed into the facility only as an observer.

Officials stated that Qudrat had been told by Dean Dr Noor Wazir, who allowed Qurat as an observer, told him to bring his documents.

But when Qudrat started visiting the facility, he shied away from producing his documents.

“The moment we caught him [Qudrat Ullah], we launched an inquiry which has proved the person lacked documents,” Dr Akbar said, adding that Dr Wazir was also questioned and cautioned.

Addressing a news conference at the facility on Friday, Dr Akbar stated that the provost, who allowed Qudrat to stay at the hostel was also warned, adding that an operation will be carried out at the hostels to determine if there were others who were living there illegally.

On October 18, police had arrested a senior trainee medical officer who was allegedly not entitled to practice since he lacked basic qualifications for the job.

Meanwhile, officials from the Young Doctors Association stated that the Qudrat had allegedly misbehaved with a senior doctor and had also threatened the doctor with dire consequences apart from allegedly harassing female doctors in the doctor's room and in the ward during rounds.
