An MPA submitted a resolution to the Punjab Assembly secretariat on Wednesday demanding that the UN should take notice of Indian troops humiliating women in held-Kashmir by cutting off their braids.

Pakistan Muslim Legaue-Nawaz (PML-N) lawmaker Hina Pervaiz Butt stated in her resolution that the silence of human rights bodies over the Indian forces' brutal atrocities in Occupied-Kashmir was criminal, Express News reported.

She further pointed out that even Kashmiri children were being subjected to atrocities at the hands of the Indian forces.

She urged the UN to come out of its slumber and act immediately to stop the Indian forces from taking such despicable actions to humiliate Kashmiri women.

A day earlier, at least 10 braid-chopping cases were reported in Ganderbal, Baramulla and Budgam districts of Indian-Occupied Kashmir.

On Monday, parliamentary leaders in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) slammed incidents of ‘braid chopping’, noting that such measures would not stop the Kashmiris' struggle for freedom.

The Opposition Leader in the Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly (AJKLA) Chaudhry Muhammad Yaseen said that incidents of ‘braid chopping’ — where miscreants have grabbed the hair of at least 40 women in Indian Occupied Kashmir and forcibly chopped their hair off — seem to be occurring with the sole purpose of harassing the people and force them  off the streets and away from the ongoing freedom struggle.

Kashmiris had shut down the valley on Monday in protest against the incidents of braid chopping. At least 65 women have been targeted since September.
