ISLAMABAD: A man was gunned down in his own house in Lohi Bher on Wednesday for allegedly refusing to give his daughter’s hand in marriage to one of his relatives.

While the incident took place shortly before midnight on Wednesday, the police have yet to arrest the suspect over 24 hours after the incident took place.

16-year-old attacked with acid for turning down marriage proposal

The victim’s brother told the police that Shoaib allegedly shot Talib Hussain in the back at the latter’s house in Bahria Town Phase-IV.

“Shoaib came to my brother’s house at around 11 pm and asked my brother to respond to his proposal for the hand of my brother’s daughter in marriage,” Hussain’s brother maintained in his application.

“My brother told him this was no way to ask for somebody’s hand. At this, Shoaib took out a 30-bore pistol which he was carrying and shot Talib,” he added.

Hussain tried to duck by turning away from the gun but was shot in the right side of his back. The bullet exited through the left side of his ribcage. Hussain died on the spot while Shoaib fled.

The suspect was a nephew of the victim’s wife.
