After five days, boy’s body recovered from river

A search operation was launched by local police

ABBOTTABAD: The body of Ali Abrar, who had jumped into river Neelum a few days ago, was finally recovered by rescue officials in Kotli Satiyan.

The Abbottabad Police body later handed over the body to the boy’s family on Wednesday.

On August 18, six friends from Gujranwala, Abrar, touring the scenic Galiyat region. At the popular picnic point Kuneer, five of Abrar’s friends compelled him to cross the raging river. They promised to pay him Rs15,000 and a high-end mobile phone. After repeated discussions, Abrar agreed and jumped into the river. But the raging currents soon drowned him.

A search operation, launched by local police, Abrar’s family and locals was abandoned after four days on Tuesday.
