“I’m not here to criticise the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). I want the government to complete its term,” said the Sindh chief organiser of the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), Pervez Ali Shah Jilani on Monday.
Addressing a press conference at a hotel in Sukkur, Shah said his aim was to make “APML the single largest party of the country”.
APML leaders and supporters have started a tour of Sindh. They first visited the Quaid-e-Azam’s mausoleum in Karachi and then Qalandar Lal Shahbaz’s shrine in Sehwan Sharif. They also went to Garhi Khuda Bux and offered Fateha.
“The Muslim League was Quaid-e-Azam’s party and since we are true Muslim Leaguers, we have decided to adopt the Jinnah cap as our party symbol,” Shah said.
He lauded Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, saying his vision was the basis of Pakistani politics because he “truly believed in the power of people”.
Shah also commended Pir Pagara’s efforts to unify the different factions of the Muslim League.
He said that while inflation also existed in Musharraf’s rule, it had increased manifold during this regime. Shah maintained the APML was becoming more popular among young people and around 400,000 youngsters from across the country had joined the party.
