LPG shop gutted by fire

Six fire tenders took four hours to extinguish blaze

KARACHI: A liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) shop was completely damaged when a fire broke out after an explosion in a gas cylinder at Keamari, within the limits of the Docks police station on Tuesday.
Following the incident, fire tenders from different departments, including Karachi Port Trust and Pakistan Maritime, reached the site and tried to extinguish the fire. Six fire tenders participated in extinguishing the fire and took at least four hours to douse it completely.

Fire brigade spokesperson said that initially two fire tenders were rushed to the site but later four more fire tenders from different organisations were sent. He said that another cylinder exploded while the firefighters were extinguishing the fire and the remaining cylinders were moved to a safe place.
According to the spokesperson, no lives were lost. The officials said that no case has been registered as the initial investigation suggests that the fire broke out accidentally.
