QUETTA: Inspector General of Frontier Corps (IGFC), Balochistan, Major General Nadeem Ahmed Anjum, has said that his force is serving the people of Balochistan and operating 80 schools and colleges and 40 boys’ hostels in various parts of the province.

“The FC is providing 2,000 scholarships to bright students of the province,” he said while presiding over the concluding sessions of the 3rd Model United Nations Conference on Sunday.

Most of them (Baloch students) are receiving better, higher and quality education in other parts of the country, he added.

He expressed hope that the students would complete their education and work for the prosperity and development of Balochistan.

Criticising foreign elements in Europe for trying to instigate the youth to take up arms, the IGFC said that they have support of less than 1.0 per cent of the people in Balochistan.

He praised the Baloch youth for choosing to devote their energies in receiving education rather than giving in to separatists provoking them to take to the hills and fight against Pakistan.

He encouraged them by citing the example of students, especially the scouts, who helped Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, founder of Pakistan, in achieving independence in 1947.

“Pakistan has come to stay. It has become stronger and is in safe hands. No country in the world is capable of attacking Pakistan,” claimed Maj Gen Anjum.

Anjum said thousands of youth were serving the defence forces of Pakistan in various capacities, including as officers, adding that hundreds of them had sacrificed their lives in the fight against terrorism.

He thanked the students and scouts who came to Balochistan from other provinces and hoped that they would take a positive message from Balochistan.

He also distributed prizes and shields among the recipients.

More than 400 scouts attended the function from all parts of the country.
