LTC hones skills of low occupancy vehicle drivers

Company organises training programmes to spread awareness on traffic laws and safety

LAHORE: The Lahore Transport Company (LTC) has organised a training programme for drivers, fare collectors and staff of public low occupancy vehicles (LOVS) running on Route 143.

The company is organising similar training programmes at various locations of the city in collaboration with private transport operators. These initiatives are part of awareness campaigns to facilitate the general public.

In this training programme, a representative of the City Traffic Police Lahore Road Safety Unit and LTC Motor Mobile Patrolling Enforcement Department emphasised on the need for proper observance of traffic rules and regulations. They particularly focused on conduct with commuters, safety measures to appropriately run and halt vehicles at proper stops and courteous conduct with passengers. Steps to curb speeding and rash driving also came up for discussion.

Why expanding roads will not ease traffic in Karachi 

The officials stressed on the need to observe traffic signals, avoiding careless driving, follow signboards and ensure vehicles are plying on designated routes. They added the LOVs must have necessary documents including route permit, fitness certificates and public service vehicle licence.
