KARACHI: Police claimed on Friday to have probed the murder case of an Uber driver by busting a gang of criminals. An Uber driver named Abdur Rehman was shot dead by robbers near Hassan Square within the limits of Aziz Bhatti police station on May 7. He was off duty when armed robbers shot him for offering resistance in a robbery bid.
The police traced the culprits with the help of closed-circuit television footage and intelligence-based information.
The arrested suspects were identified as Saifullah, Osama and Abdus Sami. Their arrests were disclosed during a press conference held by District East SSP Faisal Abdullah. He said the police had recovered the weapon and a motorcycle used in the incident. The suspects had also confessed to other crimes. The cases have been registered while further investigation is under way.

Separately, District East police also claim to have arrested an accused named Nadeem for killing a man named Omar Shah after he offered resistance during a robbery bid while withdrawing cash from an ATM in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. The East SSP said that the accused was arrested on information provided by an arrested suspect, Saleem. The cases have been registered while further investigation is under way.
