After five appearances, Hussain Nawaz hopes JIT has finished questioning him
Says there is nothing against him and his family except accusations
ISLAMABAD:
The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has probably finished questioning him, Hussain Nawaz, the prime minister’s elder son, said on Friday, expressing optimism that he would not be re-summoned.
“From the nature of questions, I can assume I will not be asked to appear before the JIT [again]. But, If I am summoned again, I will appear to fulfil [my] legal obligations,” Hussain said after he appeared before the Panamagate JIT for a fifth time.
PML-N activists, who accompanied Hussain, shouted slogans all the time he talked to media-persons. Later, the PM’s son appreciated and thanked them.
JIT to quiz Hussain Nawaz a fifth time today
Earlier, PTDC Managing Director Abdul Ghafoor and other party activists tried to breach the security cordon around the Federal Judicial Academy (FJA), designated as the JIT’s official secretariat.
Subsequently, the capital police registered an FIR against him for this attempt.
According to the FIR, Ghafoor and other party activists tried to breach the security cordon and attempted to enter the secured premises; and when the security personnel tried to stop him, he threatened them and used abusive language against them.
JIT summons Hussain, Hasan Nawaz again
Ghafoor – who always appears at the FJA whenever the PM’s sons are summoned – has been booked for threatening, defaming and obstructing public servants from performing their official duties.
Hussain, meanwhile, told media-persons: “I am sure they [JIT] will not be able to find any evidence [against him or his family]. No crime has been committed and there is nothing against us but mere accusations.”
He said if they did find any evidence to the contrary, action should be taken against whoever committed the crime. “No government or court can take action merely on the basis of doubts and allegations,” he said.
Hasan, Kayani testify before JIT
Citing vilification campaign against a wife of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him), the PM’s elder son said: “Allah exonerated her and upheld her sanctity.”
He said he had no intention to contest elections, adding that if Hassan Nawaz, his younger brother, had opted not to talk to media-persons after appearing before the JIT, it was his personal choice.
Commenting on his leaked picture, Hussain said he could only confirm that a CCTV camera was installed in the room where he was questioned. Without naming Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, he said the issue had been dragged to this extent because of the insistence of a political party.

When asked about intensification of doubts against JIT members, he said: “Sometimes a person doubts even himself.”
After Hussain departed to appear before the JIT, PM’s Special Assistant Asif Kirmani complained about the ‘rigorous’ questioning of the PM’s sons. He urged the authorities concerned to form another JIT to probe the money trail and offshore assets of PTI chief Imran Khan.
Kirmani said that the PM wanted the inquiry to complete in a smooth manner for the sake of truth, insisting that the PML-N had willingly cooperated with the courts and the JIT.
