During the investigation, Irfan said that the said canal is close to his house and his wife made the call to jump into it after the couple had an argument over money.

Irfan, who works as a labourer, said he had been unable to purchase fruits for his daughter due to his low income. "I am a laborer and managing household expenditures in my daily wages was very difficult," he said. "My wife used to fight with me over this matter".

Police officials said the bodies of the deceased will remain in their custody till Sabiha's body is found. They further stated that Irfan and his family would be interrogated to find out reason behind the deaths.
