Supreme Court’s non-development budget up 6%

Rs1.817b for top court in coming fiscal; Rs486m for IHC

ISLAMABAD: The federal government on Friday proposed an increase of around 6 per cent in the non-development expenditure of the Supreme Court of Pakistan – raising the figure to Rs1.817 billion in fiscal year 2017-18 as compared to Rs1.704 billion in the outgoing fiscal.

Last time, the government had made a 30 per cent raise in the apex court’s non-development budget in comparison with what had been allocated in the preceding year.

The break-up of the allocation in the coming fiscal includes: Rs1.340 billion for employees-related expenses, Rs381.839 million for salaries, Rs276.742 million for officers’ salaries, Rs114.097 million for payment to other staff, Rs958.831 million for allowances, Rs730.941 million for regular allowances, Rs251.925 million for other allowances, excluding transport allowance, Rs309.171 million for operating expenses, Rs45 million for employees’ retirement benefits, Rs2 million for transfers, Rs52 million for physical assets and Rs65 million for repair and maintenance.

SC non-development budget up 31 per cent

Similarly, the government has allocated a non-development budget of Rs486 million for the Islamabad High Court in 2017-18 against the outgoing fiscal year's revised estimate of Rs469.635 million.

The government has also set aside around Rs670.127 million for the Wafaqi Mohtasib Secretariat against the outgoing fiscal year's revised estimate of Rs586 million.

An amount of Rs224.500 million has been allocated for the Federal Tax Ombudsman against the revised estimate of around Rs217 million in the outgoing fiscal.
