KARACHI: The Sindh government will be taking action against officers involved in the fake appointment of teachers. Education Minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar announced this on Monday while addressing a prize distribution ceremony of 15 schools in union councils of Rehri and Chashma Goth.

All the teaching and non-teaching staff involved in fake appointments will be taken to task soon, Dahar vowed. He was referring to the 2012 scam in which more than 30,000 officers were fraudulently appointed in different cadres of the education department.

Commenting on the issue of contractual teachers, the minister assured that if the contractual teachers knew their subjects well, they would be given joining dates and would be paid. A test might be conducted during summer vacations to judge their teaching abilities, he said, adding that he would not tolerate any incompetence in his department.

Dahar said he was happy to see healthy educational being organised activities in underprivileged areas. He said he had a firm belief that the people of Sindh were not second to anyone in any field compared to other nations of the world.

On another occasion, the minister paid a surprise visit to the Government Degree Girls College Korangi No 2 ½ and expressed dissatisfaction over the lack of cleanliness, a broken boundary wall and non-functioning ceiling fans. He directed the principal to improve the condition of college in as soon as possible.
