The two-day conference organised by AIOU ended with a set of recommendations to promote regional languages in order to achieve national integration. In the concluding session, the speakers stressed the need for focusing more on learning practices and research-based activities relating to regional languages and using them as a tool for national integrity and unity. In his presidential address, AIOU Vice Chancellor Dr Shahid Siddiqui announced that the University would soon publish a research journal on Pakistani languages and literature in which researchers could write research papers in their own regional language. He also said that the varsity planned to introduce a department of translation so that all papers could be made easy to interpret for common readers. The Vice Chancellor assured that AIOU would keep arranging such events regularly to provide a platform to young researchers and writers to share their academic input and intellectual thoughts.
