Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan arrived in Karachi Sunday morning to lead a protest rally against the issues being faced by the citizens of the metropolitan city.

“I had promised that I would come to Karachi soon after the Panama case… and will join the people to demand their basic rights,” he said while talking to reporters at the Jinnah International Airport.

Announcing his plans to lead his party’s ‘Huqooq-e-Karachi March’ against shortage of water and power and other issues, the PTI chief said he wanted to “shake up the rulers of Sindh who are busy remitting the provincial development funds to Dubai”.

Responding to a question, the cricketer-turned-politician said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had lost moral grounds to remain in power.

“He [PM Nawaz] should have resigned the day when Panama scandal came to fore… but he instead chose to remain in power,” Imran said, adding that the prime minister had sold his honour for saving his "ill-gotten wealth".

Terming the premier a "fascist" over his recent remarks against women taking part in an Islamabad PTI recent rally following the announcement of Panamagate case verdict by the Supreme Court, Imran said: “Nawaz should be ashamed.”

Delving into the details of his recent claims that the PML-N government offered him Rs10 billion to stay mum on the Panama scandal, the PTI leader said, “The person who offered me the amount lives in Lahore and I am not naming him out of fear that the Sharifs will avenge him,” adding that the Sharif family is masters of taking revenge.

“The day when Shahbaz Sharif will appear in court, I will tell judges the name of the person and will ask for his protection,” he stated.
