Electricity: Nepra reduces tariff by 9 paisa per unit

The reduction in the electricity tariff is subject to issuance of the official notification.

ISLAMABAD: As part of the monthly fuel price variation adjustment formula, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has allowed power distribution companies to reduce the electricity tariff for the month of February.

Responding to power producing companies request, forwarded through the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA), Nepra has decided to reduce the electricity tariff by nine paisa per unit.

In this regard, a copy of the decision has been sent to the federal government for issuance of a gazette notification.

The reduction in the electricity tariff is subject to issuance of the official notification.

According to officials, the use of furnace oil for power generation dropped by six per cent, while production of hydropower increased by five per cent during February.
