Telecom giant Jazz has launched its very own ride-hailing service in the country.

Called mLift, the service has been rolled-out to customers in Rawalpindi and Islamabad. “As we march forward in bridging the gap between digital enablement for our users, we are launching an on-demand intra-city ride booking service, mLift, where customers can book a ride simply by dialing 7555,” reads a statement on the company’s website.

New ride-hailing service Paxi looks to go beyond apps

The service works by connecting riders with nearby taxi drivers over the company’s free call service through which they can negotiate rates before booking a ride. The location based service, which takes a step ahead of conventional ride-hailing services, works without mobile internet and doesn’t require a dedicated app hence connecting millions of more Jazz users to the ride-haling platform.

mLift also addresses legal issues some ride-hailing companies have been facing recently by taking on board registered taxi drivers hence making the service compliant with government rules and regulations.

To book a ride, Jazz users can simply dial 7555 from their mobile phone which connects them with nearby taxi drivers registered with the service. Riders can then negotiate rates based on their location and destination.

The service is currently only available to Jazz users in Rawalpindi and Islamabad and is expected to be rolled out to other networks after the company launches the mLift app.

Khappay ! | 6 years ago | Reply Seriously, seems like a joke to me. Mostly people use Uber and Careem to avoid the hassle of negotiation. I don't see any convenient to customers in Jazz service. Flop idea.
Muhammad (abu dhabi) | 6 years ago | Reply Lol. Calling a number and negotiating rates. Pathetic. I remember when warid and telenor were launched and mobilink didnt have mms cpability and to fool the customers they launched an mms service called mobilink mast service. This company has a history of rolling out pathetic services.
