ISLAMABAD:
The Finance Ministry on Tuesday finally released salaries of daily wage employees at the schools and colleges of the capital after a five-month delay. Finance Minister Ishaq Dar had approved the immediate release of Rs290.71 million in a supplementary grant for the Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) to pay salaries of employees of educational institutions, including teaching and non-teaching staff, operating under Federal Directorate of Education. Initially the ministry had refused to release the grant. But after a detailed discussion on the matter with CADD Minister Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry, the minister assured the latter of his support to resolve the issue. Following that meeting, Dar approved the supplementary grant. Most of the daily wage teachers and supporting staff depend entirely on their salaries for survival and were facing extreme financial difficulties because of this delay.
