In a clear reference to a video clip of Indian security personnel being roughed up by a mob, allegedly in Indian Occupied Kashmir, Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir suggested on Thursday that for every slap on an Indian soldier face, at least 100 separatist's lives must be taken, The Times of India (TOI) reported.

The Indian opening batsman made the aggressive comments on Twitter, in a clear reference to a video clip – the authenticity of which could not be verified – of Indian security personnel being roughed up by a mob allegedly in the held-Kashmir.

Gambhir claimed in one of his tweets while criticising those demanding freedom in the disputed valley that whoever wants freedom in the valley, should leave because Kashmir belongs to India.
The Indian cricketer, also known for his several on-field feuds, is an active social media user.
In March this year, he had defended a Delhi University student Gurmehar Kaur, who had posted a pro-peace message for which she was being harassed but continued to back the Indian army, said TOI.

Kashmir has been a disputed region between Pakistan and India since independence from Britain in 1947. Two of three wars have been fought over the valley.
Indian-held Kashmir witnessed deadly protests in 2016, after a popular separatist leader, Burhan Wani, was killed by Indian forces. Last September, tension escalated when at least 19 Indian soldiers were killed in an assault on an army camp in Kashmir, an attack India blamed on Pakistan-based militants.
