The tragic accident took place on ICI Bridge in the early hours of Wednesday when the victims were returning after paying their respects at the shrine of Abdullah Shah Ghazi in Clifton locality.
Hailing from Punjab, the family of the deceased woman had come to the city to visit their relatives.

Police officials said that the accident took place when a speeding truck hit the Suzuki pick-up, a car and a motorcycle on ICI Bridge and turned. Quoting the initial investigations, police officials said the truck driver was trying to turn his truck in speed but lost balance. After hitting the vehicles, it turned upside down, killing and injuring the people.
Police officials confirmed that a total five people lost their lives while six others were also injured in the accident. The deceased woman and her children were travelling on a Suzuki pick-up. The woman was identified as 35-year-old Farzana, wife of Shafiq, her minor daughter, two-year-old Amna, and 12-year-old son, Munab. Another deceased person was identified as 65-year-old Naseem, son of Akhtar, while the fifth person has yet to be identified. The injured included Adil, Abdur Rehman, Munawar, Zobia and Omar.
Following the accident, volunteers from different welfare associations reached the site and shifted the bodies and injured to Civil Hospital, Karachi, for autopsies and treatment. A contingent of law enforcers also reached the site and inquired about the incident.
Road accidents: Three killed in separate incidents
The bodies of the victims who lost their lives were shifted to their hometown for burial while the injured were admitted at a hospital. Doctors said they were out of danger.
Meanwhile, the truck driver responsible for the accident managed to escape. The police have taken the cleaner of the trailer into custody while they have also impounded the trailer. Police officials said they were also looking for the driver. A case has been registered against the driver and further investigations are underway.
Meanwhile, Sindh IG Allah Dino Khawaja also took notice of the incident and sought a report from District South police chief DIG Azad Khan and the traffic DIG over the accident.
