At least 4 killed as bus overturns in Karachi

Sourecs say a dozen others suffered injuries

KARACHI: At least four people, including three women and a child, were killed while a dozen others injured on Thursday as a passenger-carrying vehicle overturned in Karachi.

The incident apparently occurred due to over speeding near the Urdu Science University on the University Road, which is currently under construction, sources told The Express Tribune.

Soon after the incident, police and rescuers arrived at the scene and shifted the injured to the city's Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for emergency medical treatment.

A few days ago, an Urdu Science University student was hit by a speeding bus on the same road.

CM orders inquiry

Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah while expressing deep sorrow over loss of lives, ordered the IG police to submit an inquiry report in the incident. The CM also ordered arrest of the bus driver.
