KARACHI: A young girl died and three others were wounded on Wednesday after the roof of their single-storey house in SITE collapsed.

Police and rescuers workers from different welfare organisations reached the spot in Metroville and started rescue efforts to pull the injured out of the rubble.

Shahzia, 12, was critically injured and died while en route to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.

Three other injured people – Anwar, Sumaira, and Shahmir – are under treatment at the hospital.

According to the police, the incident occurred because the house was built on a drain and was structurally unsound.

On January 1, at least 20 people, including six children and four women, were injured when the roof of a house collapsed during a birthday celebration in Chanesar Goth in the Mehmoodabad area of Karachi.
