Preventable diseases: ‘Synergy needed for polio eradication’

The minister underscored the need for synergy between EPI and PEI is a panacea to sustain polio eradication

ISLAMABAD: There is a dire need to strengthen routine immunisation through a proactive approach work against the vaccine-preventable diseases on a nationwide scale.

These remarks were made by Minister for National Health Services Saira Afzal Tarar at a national immunisation review meeting on Wednesday.

The minister underscored the need for synergy between Expended Programme on Immunisation (EPI) and Polio Eradication Initiative (PEI) is a panacea to sustain polio eradication. She added that 54 per cent of children in the country between the ages of 12 and 23 months are fully immunised.
