Eight stalls that are ‘worth it’ at Karachi Eat 2017

Karachi Eat Festival will continue on Saturday and Sunday

Saydyz

You cannot miss the homemade pomegranate black salt sorbet by Saadia Zafar, the woman behind Saydyz. Made with fresh fruit and perfectly suited to the mildly chilly weather at the festival, the sorbet expertly accentuated the sweet, tangy flavour of pomegranate. Though a small serving, the uniqueness and freshness of the sorbet made it a refreshing treat. Saydyz was also offering other flavours that included strawberry kiwi, vanilla nutella, coffee nutella and choco nutella.

Price: Rs300

Fatso's

One of the favourites from last year, Fatso's proved to be equally popular this year, especially among the young adults at the festival. Our pick of their three offered items from this year would be the chilli cheese fries. Covered in a thick and sticky cheese sauce and chilli, the fries had a generous serving. A filling side dish, this one is a must try for those who enjoy thick and chunky fries. You will get your money's worth and maybe also your calories' worth!

Price: Rs300

Lady Marmalade

This stall was offering funnel cake and fried oreos, both served with vanilla ice cream. "This [stall] was definitely the best! It's different, cost-effective and yummy," shared visitor Sameer Magsi. "I wanted to try quick food and I followed the style from food festivals abroad," said Lady Marmalade owner Laila Pir.

Jucy Lucy

Served hot off the grill, Jucy Lucy's gouda cheese burger was an explosion of flavours. It was served with a creamy sauce with a hint of mustard. The patty was perfectly cooked and the bun fresh. The stall was launched by the team that ran the successful Churros and Choc last year.

Shan

Many people were all praises for Shan's stall, which was offering Haleem and Sindhi Biryani. "We really enjoyed their haleem. Maybe it could have been a bit more hot but I am happy with the serving size," said one of the visitors, Nasreen Jeelani.

Karamel
From the first stall as you enter the festival, team Karamel’s giant-sized milk chocolate filled cookie is a cookie lover’s delight. Freshly baked and gooey, the cookies are a must try. Other sweets being offered by this stall were cookie cups with various fillings and a new addition, cookie dough brownies.

Khurram’s Steak n Grill

What’s better than a tenderloin steak in Brazilian sauce cooked to perfection? This stall was offering various steak cuts, including philly steak, chateaubriand, chicken fillet and chapli kebab, with a choice of Brazilian, American, Mexican Jamaican and Japanese sauce.
