The WWE Hall of Famer first hinted at his aspirations in his weekly radio broadcast on Houston’s SportsRadio 610. He clarified his intentions on Twitter, citing love for his hometown as his motivation for seeking the job.
“I look forward to having a dialogue with the voters of Houston, and if I am so privileged to serve,” he said, “I will fight for them as hard as I have fought for myself and my family over the last 30 years.”

Booker rose to new heights during his WCW run in the 90s. He won 21 championships in the company, becoming the most decorated wrestler in its history. In WWE, he won his sixth world title on Smackdown. He was also a success tag team wrestler, having collected 15 world tag team championships in three companies, including TNA. The 2006 King of the Ring winner definitely showed he got along well with the crowd when he was voted the greatest World Heavyweight Champion in 2013 WWE viewers poll.
